One of the most heartfelt and memorable moments of the 33rd EICF International Conference & Exhibition in Liverpool took place under the majestic arches of St George’s Hall — our Gala Dinner and EICF Awards Ceremony.

In a warm and elegant setting, we paused to recognise two exceptional individuals whose careers have left an enduring mark on our industry.

🏆 The Robert Smart Award was presented to Mr. Kenneth Harris, a pioneer in materials innovation whose work has shaped the development of advanced superalloys like CMSX-4. Although Ken could not join us in person, the award was received on his behalf by Mr. Andrew Winsemius of Cannon Muskegon, who shared words of gratitude that resonated deeply with all in attendance.

🏅 The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mr. Howard Pickard, Chairman of LBBC, in honour of a lifetime dedicated to engineering excellence, family heritage, and leadership. His innovations, including the Boilerclave, have redefined wax removal in foundries and continue to raise the bar for safety and sustainability.

Graciously hosted by EICF Board Member, Mrs. Nicole Procter, the ceremony reminded us that our community thrives not only through technology and performance — but through people, legacy, and shared purpose.
